Integrating an LRS with an LMS - Veracity Launch LRS Integration

LRS Integration / Adding xAPI Support

Overview

Veracity Launch includes some basic login, attempt status, duration and completion reports. More advanced reports and learning analytics using xAPI data can be supported by adding / integrating any xAPI-conformant Learning Record Store (LRS). Adding an LRS to Veracity Launch requires for your external LRS to set up beforehand.  Once you have your LRS set up, follow the steps below to add it to Veracity Launch to start collecting xAPI data for your content.

Prerequisite

Login to your LRS and generate an LRS endpoint, key, and secret. Your LRS should provide a user interface to generate these credentials. These credentials are what is needed to connect to the LRS and send data to it. For example, click this link to see how Veracity's documentation on how to create these credentials in the Veracity LRS. Once you have your LRS credentials established, continue on to the next step below.

Login to your Veracity Launch portal, and then navigate to "Manage Integrations"

Next, click on "LRS Integration"

On the next screen (Manage LRSs), click the "Create LRS Integration" button

Next, enter the Name, Description (optional), the Endpoint URL, Username (Key) and Password (Secret). Then click the "Add Integration" button.

Your content will now send xAPI data to the LRS you added to Launch. To check that it is working correctly, open your content using a Veracity Launch user account, and then access the external LRS interface to see if the xAPI data is being stored successfully.

Adding Multiple LRSs

While you can add more than one LRS to Veracity Launch, only one LRS can be active at a time and receive the data for each content portal. If you would like for more than one LRS to receive xAPI data, you will need to set up Statement Forwarding rules within your LRS interface (if it is supported. For example, click this link to see Veracity's documentation on how to set up forwarding rules in Veracity's LRS).
